Judging Certification |
One of ACDA's key functions is to conduct judging certification, which features a dual-certification process that enables Australian Judges to also receive international recognition. This is because the Judging Criteria and Judging Certification processes of ACDA perfectly mirror those used by the Organising Committee of the US Disc Dog Nationals. In order to become an ACDA certified Canine Disc Judge an applicant must satisfactorily complete the USDDN Judging Certification.
There are four levels that USDDN/ACDA Canine Frisbee judges can attain, which are:
Only Level 4 USDDN Judges are certified to administer judging exams and currently all USDDN Judging exams must be administered face-to-face by a Level 4 USDDN Judge. Australia has recently become one of a handful of countries that has its own Master Judges and this means that commencing in 2011 we are administering USDDN exams to enable the development of a qualified pool of Australian Judges qualified to judge ACDA sanctioned competitions in Australia and USDDN sanctioned competitions internationally.
This website provides easy access to the current USDDN Judging Handbook and information about the USDDN Judge Certification Program. Additional documents related to the USDDN in multiple languages is available at http://www.usddn.com/policies.htm. Prior to attempting a judging exam applicants should either review the two documents listed above and undertake judge training that will be periodically organised by ACDA.
ACDA does not provide previews of examinations, and sample questions are not available for review. If an applicant is unsuccessful in completing the examination they can re-attempt the exam at a later date without penalty.
ACDA plans to ultimately certify judges in all states. During 2011 ACDA intends to offer judging exams in the following locations: Brisbane QLD (completed on 14th May), Gympie QLD (completed on 5th June), Townsville QLD (completed on 24th June) and Tamworth NSW. Tentatively, it is planned that the judging exams will be offered again in Brisbane in August 2011 and in Tamworth in October 2011. Canine disc participants wishing to achieve judging certification should contact the ACDA President Damian Noud at damian@frisbeedogs.asn.au or telephone (07) 3261 4080.
